Being on top of Flattop Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park is a hiker’s rush. You may look straight down the glacier that is left from the winter months and see the very small parking lot that you started from. Start your hike early, bring plenty of water for hydration and start returning no later than 11:00am as you don’t want to be out in the trail due to popup thunder showers. The last 2/3 of the hike is above tree line and in a totally open area, so you don’t want to get caught in a thunder shower there. Happy hiking!
