Big Horned Sheep come down from the mountain tops to find food during the winter months when there is a lot of snow covering places to find food. By coming down to lower ground, the probability of finding food is greatly enhanced. The bonus with the photograph is having the big horned sheep near the beautiful red rock which enhances the photograph. This is a female big horned sheep as the type of horns indicate being a female.
