It doesn’t happen every year, but when it does it is exciting and magical. It’s snowshoeing up the river to the Loch.
When you look at the photograph, from the front of the photo where my wife is standing all the way down the slope to the farthest point in the photograph is a raging river during the rest of the year.
But when the river freezes over, take advantage of it and snowshoe up the river to the Loch and return by snowshoeing down the river. Just be careful as sometimes there are sink holes and the raging river is still moving underneath you.
And if you are more adventurous, skin up with skis and ski down the river. Both are challenging experiences.
