The tree that stood for hundreds of years came tumbling down during a high wind disturbance. There must have been very high winds numerous times during that time, but now the winds must be even stronger.

The huge, beautiful, hundreds of years old, iconic tree at Fort Hill on Cape Cod has fallen in the storm. It certainly was sad to see that a storm could do such damage in a split second when it took the tree so long to become this big.

Between the impact of weather, people hiking and the high tides, the sand dunes near the ocean are losing sand at a rapid rate. What these areas will end up looking like years from now is only a guess as I’ve seen so many major changes to the seashore even during my lifetime.

The building was built over 100 years ago and stood for over 100 years. It took only a morning to burn the whole building down.

Miles and miles of sand dunes and high grass. When the high grass goes from people walking on it, the next to go are the sand dunes as there will be nothing left to hold the sand dunes in place.
