Photography is an expensive hobby and if you are an amateur photograph you can start earning money from your hobby. The difference between amateur and professional is relative.
While a professional has to earn his living bread by selling his photographs while the amateur is happy to take good photographs and feel good... but selling is not his main aspiration. So if you are a good amateur photographer you can earn good money from your good photographs as well as appreciation and kudos.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR HIKING

Photographs taken with a single on-camera flash look dull, boring, and flat. Ever wondered why this is? Our eyes are designed for 3D viewing and to see any depth in a 2D photo we must use other means
to impart depth and dimension. We use shadow to create an illusion of depth. With a lack of shadow and contrasts a photo has a lack of any illusion. How can we create this illusion? By adding a second off camera flash and varying the light ratios. In a dual flash scenario the key produces the shadows and the fill controls how dark or light they are.

More and more people today enjoy the simple, wholesome fun of hiking. hiking is an affordable, yet healthy and emotionally rewarding way to spend a vacation or a long weekend... and you don't need to
visit a travel agent. Experienced hikers will always tell you that every detail matters when you pack hiking gear, especially tents and camping stoves. The right hiking accessories and clothing, a properly and ergonomically packed backpack, positive mood and good fitness; all these elements play an equally important role in the success of any hiking trip.

I don't know about you but I tend to get single-minded and narrow focused when I am planning a photo shoot. I want to get the big "opportunity" and tend to overlook the small ones. There are simple and
sometimes easy ways to take pictures of birds in your yard. One can take pictures through a window of the house. You can set up a bird feeding station near the window. For instance, I have a log about 2 feet from my window. The log is set one end up and on that I put some peanut butter on it and some seeds and nuts. For this reason, pediatricians and orthopedics alike are warning parents and youngsters about the harm of heavily loaded backpacks.

It's exciting to explore a new area that you've read about. But don't get so excited that you can't find your way back to where you started from. Sometimes, we forget that if proceed into uncharted waters,
we might not be able to find the way back. That is when some navigation knowledge in the woods proves worthwhile and absolutely necessary. How many times have you seen some wildlife in the distance and without even thinking, you're off in their direction?

The digital camera has many advantages, but the major disadvantage is the chewing up of battery power. There is no problem with battery power when you return to your hotel room and a battery charger
renews the needed battery power of 4 AA batteries in 1 hour. With 12 batteries with you at all times, you will never have to worry about not having enough battery power for the day. So, how do you survive a week in the outdoors without electricity to recharge your batteries? Do you take your SLR film camera instead so you don't have to worry about the loss of batteries?

MEET THE FEATURED OUTDOOR EYES PHOTOGRAPHER - Ray Streib

As a farm lad I had always dreamed of visiting the Western United States and perhaps living in California. Now, as the farm lad grown old but still dreaming young dreams the westward move has become a reality.
Residing about two hours west of the snow and mountains and about two hours from the sea, I find myself with my family in the best of both worlds!
After more than five decades of photography for newspapers, magazines, personally-owned studios, ballet dancers and companies, gymnasts and gymnastics organizations, starting and maintaining a school of modeling, and just plain fun photography to fill spare hours I find myself centering on marketing past and present efforts. We have other photography available that is not a part of Outdoor Eyes, so if you have an interest in other fields please contact us and let us know. We have literally hundreds of photographs of professional circuses and literally thousands of photographs of live models.
Thanks for visiting and thanks to Phil Tulin whose idea has become OUTDOOR EYES.
Sincerely, Ray Streib Fairfield, CA
