Arches National Park is a photographer's dream come true. Everywhere you turn is a photographic
opportunity. The hiking is fun, but the reason to come to Arches is really for the photography. Make sure you understand and know which arches and places are good in the AM and which arches and places are good for the PM. That is extremely important for great photography at Arches National Park.

Plants grow and wildlife reside in areas where their needs are met. The same ducks that you see during
one part of the season will not be found when their flight feathers are shed. They will be found in the high grass in the marshes to protect themselves from predators. All wildlife goes through transitions based on the time of the year and different phases of their lives.

Sometimes you only want to sharpen or blur only a small section of the photograph. When you apply the
blur or unsharp mask, they apply the same amount to each and every pixel to your photograph. When you need to blur or sharpen only a small section of a photograph, that is when the history brush becomes a very useful tool.

All of the following Arches National Park GPS waypoints and routes have been obtained
by using a Magellan GPS while hiking. All waypoints are in WGS84 datum and should only be used for recreational purposes and NOT for primary navigation. Always carry a map and a compass with you for primary navigation.

If you can't photograph at home, then how do you expect to photograph anywhere else? Some people
believe that it is the subject or the camera that makes a great photograph. You can take a terrible photograph in Africa and you can take a terrific photograph in your own backyard.

It makes absolutely no sense to purchase an expensive pair of hiking poles if you
don't know how to keep your hiking poles safe. Take care of your hiking poles and your hiking poles will take care of you. There are a few different types of hiking poles and each type has its own maintenance.

You don't have to read every field guide to learn about nature and wildlife.
All you have to do is observe and question. Nature is not as random as people tend to believe. Why does one particular person have more nature experiences? Is that person just plain lucky?
